Our Community Takes Action.
In collaboration with our partners, colleagues, students, members, and chapter leads, we bridge the gap between growth and sustainability–leading with our primary pillars:
+
Rebuilding and Growing Altadena
+
Infusing Educational Equity through thought leadership, research, and historical facts.
+
Providing scholarship to our future leaders
+ Advocating with and on behalf of our entire community

Educational Equity
Ensuring quality education access for all students in Altadena communities, the NAACP is part of the Eaton Fire Collaborative and has addressed issues with Senator Perez. We’re fighting for every child’s right to excellent education.

Community Organization
We thrive on building power through grassroots mobilization and leadership. We train and equip community members to advocate for themselves, organize their neighbors, and demand accountability from elected officials.

Voter Empowerment
Now more than ever, we are constantly protecting our voting rights with an ultimate goal of increasing civic participation. Through voter registration drives, education initiatives, and advocacy, we ensure every voice is heard in our democracy.

A Note From Our President
The Altadena NAACP stands firmly committed to ensuring that our recovery is just, equitable, and honors every voice. We have not forgotten that the predominantly Black neighborhoods west of Lake Avenue received emergency warnings hours after other areas—a disparity that cost lives and homes. This is precisely why our work matters now more than ever.
Through the Eaton Fire Collaborative and partnerships with Senator Perez and Supervisor Kathryn Barger, community organizations, and residents like you, we are fighting to ensure that:
- Rebuilding serves current residents, not outside speculators
- Educational equity remains a priority as our children heal and learn
- Every family has access to resources and support
- Our historically rich, diverse community is preserved and strengthened
Altadena has been home to generations of Black families, artists, and leaders since 1888. We will not let this fire erase that legacy. Instead, we choose to rebuild with intention, justice, and hope.
Whether you lost everything or are helping others recover, your voice matters. Join us. Together, we are not just rebuilding structures—we are creating the Altadena our children deserve.
With solidarity and determination,
Wilberta Richardson, Esq.

During bad circumstances, which is the human inheritance, you must decide not to be reduced. You have your humanity, and you must not allow anything to reduce that. We are obliged to know we are global citizens. Disasters remind us we are world citizens, whether we like it or not.
