Challenge
Tell us how your dream will leave a lasting mark on the state, nation and the world. Accomplishments can be as diverse as the Golden State. Utilize your particular talents to illustrate how you plan to change the world. Tell us your dream in a creative way with an essay, video, audio, or artwork. Let your imagination be your guide.
Awards
Grand Prize: One (1) grand prize winner will be selected
· $5,000 cash scholarship
· Airfare and accommodations for student and one (1) adult to Sacramento to accept award at 9:00am on December 15, 2008
· Attend December 15, 2008 California Hall of Fame Preview Event
· VIP placement during Red Carpet Event
· Signed letter of congratulations from the Governor of California
· Entry will be posted on Museum's website
Honorable Mention: Ten (10) entries will be selected

Rules and Guidelines
Section I - General Rules
· Limit one (1) entry per person
· Completed and signed entry form must accompany Challenge submissions.

· All submissions must be in digital format presentation; essay, photographs, video, music, or artwork. Be creative, think outside the box
· Each entry must include a introduction letter with the following information:
Entry title
Entrant's name
School name
School address
School telephone number
Name of supervision teacher
· Personal statement (not to exceed 50 words)
· All entries must be mailed or delivered to the California Museum on CD or DVD
· All entries must be received by October 10, 2008
· Postmarks and incomplete entries or entries that do not conform to these Rules and Guidelines are not admissible and may be disqualified by The California Museum. The California Museum may deem ineligible any entry that infringes on the rights of third parties or is not suitable for publication, as determined by The California Museum in its sole discretion
· Teachers must verify and sign the verification of authenticity on the student entry form
· There is no fee to enter the Challenge
Section II - Qualifications for Entrants
· Challenge is open to 12th grade students graduating summer 2009 from a California high school; public, private, or home school
· Entrant must be a California resident
· Winning entrant must be able to receive the grand prize award in person on December 15, 2008
Section III - Challenge Rules
· Each entry must reflect the entrant's own research and original thinking
· All entries will not be returned and become the property of The California Museum
· All entries may be used in The California Museum's print or electronic media
· Any quotations or copyrighted material used in the Challenge must be identified properly. Failure to identify non-original material will result in disqualification
· All entries must be in English
· This Challenge is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited or restricted by law.

Monday thru Friday from 10am-4pm starting September 8, 2008.
Entries will be accepted in The California Museum's gift shop.
Entries can also be shipped.

Must be received by October 10, 2008. Shipped entries are to be in protective CD case and shall be delivered by UPS, Fed Ex, or US Postal Service. Submittals are shipped at the entrant's risk. Insurance is recommended.
Right of Use:
The California Museum retains the right to unlimited use of entries for the Challenge for publicity and advertising without the photographer's approval. Entrants relinquish any right to royalties or any form of compensation or reimbursement; provided, however, that winning entrants shall receive the awards set forth above from The California Museum. Entrants retain copyright of their works. Each entrant, by submitting an entry into the Challenge, (a) grants The California Museum, its successors, licensees and assigns (the 'Authorized Parties') an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive worldwide license to, without any additional consideration, publish, post, display, copy, distribute, transmit, edit, use alone, together with other works, and otherwise use the entry in any manner whatsoever, and at any time or times, for any purpose whatsoever, in all media now known or hereafter discovered, without notice, review or approval, and (b) agrees to use by The California Museum and its designees of such entrant's name, photograph and likeness for advertising and promotional purposes, in any and all forms of media, now known or hereafter devised without additional compensation, review or approval rights, notification or permission, except where prohibited by law. Credit will be given to entrants when possible, but is not guaranteed.

The judging panel's decisions will be final and binding.

Timeline:
August 16 - Official launch of Challenge at California State Fair, entry forms available online
September 8 - Entries may be mailed or delivered to The California Museum
October 10 - Last day for submittals
October 11 - Judging starts
November 31 - Judging ends
December 1 - Winners are notified
December 15 - Grand prize winner is recognized in person at The California Museum
